Cucumber Holiday Trees

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • Toothpicks or wooden skewers
  • Star-shaped cookie cutter
  • Mandolin or knife

Ingredients:

  • Cucumbers
  • Cheese cube
  • Carrots
  • Cherry Tomatoes

Directions:

Prep

  1. Cut thin slices of cucumber using either a knife or mandolin.
  2. Cut slices of cheese. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut stars from slices.
  3. Peel carrots and cut into half-inch slices to form the base.
  4. Cut a handful of cherry tomatoes in half.

Assemble

  1. Place a toothpick into the center of the carrot slice. Add a cherry tomatoes half face down.
  2. Scrunch up the slices of cucumber and thread them on wooden skewers. You’ll want to narrow the width as you go to create the illusion of a tree.
  3. Secure the cheese star on top.

Variations

There are many ways you can tweak this recipe and still create beautiful holiday trees depending on the ingredients you have on hand. For example, use a melon to create the star instead of the cheese or swap out the carrot for a think juicy pineapple chunk. The possibilities are endless, and kids will enjoy expressing their creativity.
